Zovo Use Case Diagram
UML use case diagrams from plain text lines.
Zovo Use Case Diagram turns a few lines of text into a UML use case diagram and checks it. Write one statement per line: actors, use cases, system boundaries that hold their use cases, associations between actors and use cases, include and extend arrows between use cases, actor generalization, and notes. Actors stand in a column left and right of the systems; use cases are ellipses inside their system box. Each relation leaves its shape at its own point and runs in its own lane, so lines do not run on top of each other or through a shape. The PDF ends with a table of all relations, the actors and the use cases. The check lists actors with no use case, use cases that no actor reaches, and include/extend cycles. A line that does not follow the grammar is refused with its line number and the token, so nothing is guessed. Before the links are given, the drawing is checked on its final coordinates (each use case inside its own system, each relation ending on its two shapes, no overlapping shapes or labels) and the PDF text is read back to find all names.
What it does
- Actors, use cases, one or more system boundaries, notes
- Associations, include and extend arrows, actor generalization
- Lists actors with no use case, use cases no actor reaches, and include/extend cycles
- Refuses generalization cycles, unknown names and relations between the wrong kinds of element
- PDF (Letter or A4) with a relations table, SVG and a CSV of elements and relations
- Refuses a line outside the grammar with its line number and the token

Limitations
- Up to 30 actors, 80 use cases, 6 systems, 300 relations, 40 notes and 40,000 characters
- Only the grammar on this page is read; use case generalization, packages, nested systems and PlantUML shortcuts such as (Use case) or :Actor: are refused with the line number
- Each actor and use case must be declared on its own line; names are matched as written, including upper and lower case
- Actors are placed by the tool: the first half (in input order) on the left, the rest on the right; actors joined by generalization stay on one side
- A diagram with many relations can be too wide for the page; the result then gives the SVG and CSV without a PDF
- The PDF font covers Latin, Greek, Cyrillic and Vietnamese; Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hebrew and emoji show as ? in the PDF (the SVG and CSV keep them)
- Files of large diagrams are kept for 1 hour so the download links work, then deleted
